United to revamp its fleet with wide-bodied B787s and A350s

United Airlines, one of the biggest commercial airlines operating within the United States is changing its ideologies with time. The Chicago, Illinois based airline is keen to open up various international routes using a series of next generation aircrafts. It is worth a note that the airline has placed an enormous order of state of the art aircrafts from Boeing 787, and Airbus A350 planes with the American as well as French manufacturers.

The airline is pleased with these latest developments and is keen to capitalize on the opportunity in the near future. The airline has ordered these modern planes as a part of its overall fleet-renewal strategy. At present, it flies to over 373 domestic and international routes and offers airline tickets on its travelers at lucrative fares. Currently, it has placed an order for 56 Boeing 787 aircrafts while it received the delivery of nine of these planes recently. On the other hand, it has ordered 25 Airbus A350 planes and hopes that these wide-body aircrafts will help if fulfill its expansion dreams. The combined order of these modern and wide-bodied planes is set to replace the current number of wide-body aircrafts that adorn its fleet size.

The airline is hopeful of deploying these newly purchased planes to various international long-haul gateways across the globe. It is also reconsidering fleet planning so as to accommodate travelers on long distance journeys with ease and comfort. Fleet modernization process will be undertaken on both Boeing as well as Airbus series planes.

These planes will also set an era where united Airlines will replace its popular Boeing 747 with its newly acquired aircrafts. Besides the Boeing 787s, 787-8s and 787-9s too will substitute the existing Boeing 767s and Being 777-200s in the near future. Interestingly, the airline’s Boeing 787-9 will take off on its maiden flight this year. Initially 787-9 will serve the domestic sector and later it will be deployed on transpacific journey between Melbourne and Los Angeles. The much-anticipated flight will commence on October 28, 2014.
