US Airways rolling back its hiked airfares

Now, the passengers taking US Airways flights will no longer have to worry as they will continue to book their flight tickets at low fares as they had been doing in the past. The airline has started rolling back the airfares hike after two broad fare increases in 2012. Following suit, even United Airlines has also started rolling back airfares hike as well.

The airlines had resorted to airfares hike for two consecutive times in recent past this year due to ever increasing jet fuel prices.

For the third time again, the airlines tried unsuccessfully to raise airfares again. Their latest efforts seems to have boomeranged as low-cost carriers are nervous and hesitating to match last week’s increase of up to $10 per roundtrip, led by United Airlines and Continental Airlines.

The passengers now have a good piece of news as they will be able to book cheap tickets because United Airlines and other carriers have decided to scale back the airfares hike at least on routes where they are capable to compete with low-cost carriers like Southwest Airlines.

Other carriers like American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines and Virgin America have also decided to roll back airfares hike for the time being.

However, as the jet fuel prices continue to rise the airlines may again try to raise airfares, according to aviation industry experts.
