US Airways to launch Philadelphia-Edinburgh service in May 2014

US Airways, the giant player in the United States aviation sector just recently announced its decision to offer flights to Scotland. The Tempe, Arizona based airline said it plans to launch service between Philadelphia and Edinburgh. The airline will commence service to and from the Scottish capital for the first time next year.

As per the airline’s proposal, the new nonstop daily service between two transatlantic destinations would be launched on May 23, 2014. These flights will however operate until October 1, 2014. The seasonal service will benefit travelers who would be able to book plane tickets with the airline to travel between the city pair.

The airline is set to use the services of Boeing 757-200 aircrafts on this route. These planes will comprise a seating capacity for 176 passengers across two classes. As per the schedule, the flights will depart Philadelphia at 8:50 pm and arrive in Edinburgh at 8:40 am, the next day. Return flights will depart Edinburgh at 10:50 am and arrive in Philadelphia at 1:35 pm, the same day.

With the launch of the new service, the airline will connect 118 destinations across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, Caribbean, and Europe from Philadelphia International Airport. Its total number of weekday departures will also climb up to 472.
