Vietnam Airlines mulls nonstop flights to U.S. with new aircrafts

Vietnam Airlines has decided to make a major foray in the world of aviation. The airline is now all set to become the second airline in the world to receive both the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350 XWB aircrafts.

Vietnam’’s national carrier took the delivery of an Airbus A350 XWB aircraft on June 30, 2015 in Toulouse, France. The airline is awaiting delivery of its Boeing 787-9 aircraft during the end of July this year. The airline has also indicated that it is also looking forward to receiving eight Boeing 787-10 aircrafts in future.

Media reports quoted a spokesperson of Vietnam Airlines as saying that it is planning to purchase 14 Airbus A350 aircrafts. The airline will be using the first Airbus A350 aircraft to operate flights to Paris from Hanoi. The Paris-Hanoi route is about 5,700 miles long. The airline is also planning to deploy its first Boeing 787 aircraft to serve London Heathrow-Hanoi route.

Travel experts have said that after receiving the long range twin-engine aircrafts, Vietnam Airlines will be looking forward to expanding its global footprint and gain access to the U.S. market as well. According to the aviation industry experts, the airline is likely to launch nonstop flights to the United States in future.

Until now, travellers from Vietnam had to book flights on either Singapore Airlines or Emirates Airline for travelling to the U.S. However, with new long haul aircrafts being acquired now, the airline will be offering nonstop service to the U.S.

Qatar Airways is presently the only airline in the world to use both the Airbus A350 XWB and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircrafts to operate flights to international destinations. The airline will be launching flights to New York JFK from Doha utilizing the Airbus A350 aircraft to serve the route in March 2016.
