Virgin adds business seats, fills Qantas vacuum

Virgin Australia came to the fore recently when it announced that it would be making up for the shortage of economy as well as business class seats created by the ongoing industrial action by Qantas. Through this move, the airline is trying to contain loses for the Australian tourism industry.

The increase has been injected gradually. Over the last three months, the total number of seats has been upped by 31,000 seats each week. The number includes the seats injected through the wide body aircrafts and business class seats on the Perth route. Notably, the route has received an addition of 6,800 seats with each flight from the East Coast offering guaranteed business class options.

The Airline is not stopping at these figures. As per reports, the airline plans to add 3,000 seats per week up till October 30th and adding the 5th daily return flights between Perth and Melbourne commencing December 20th; bringing in 2,300 seats in the process.
