Virgin America recently announced it has entered into codeshare agreement with China Southern Airlines. The new pact will enable travelers seamless access to various destinations in China, Southeast Asia and United States.
Media reports said China Southern Airlines will now place its flight code on Virgin America-operated flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco to various U.S. cities. These destinations include Washington D.C., San Diego, Seattle, New York JFK, Newark Liberty, Las Vegas, Fort Lauderdale, Dallas Love Field, Chicago and Boston. China Southern Airlines is currently the only airline operating nonstop flights services to the United States from Guangzhou and Wuhan.
Under the codeshare pact, the customers booking flights on either of the airline will be able to take advantage of a one-stop booking process, travel on a single ticket, and also benefit from one-stop check-in and baggage handling, during the entire duration of the journey.
Adam Green, Virgin America's Director of Network Planning, said, “It is a matter of great happiness that Virgin America has partnered with China Southern Airlines, presently the largest carrier by fleet size in Asia. The company has always considered China to be a crucial inbound and outbound tourism market. We are fully committed to provide our award-winning, signature services to customers traveling to/from destinations across the United States on the airline’s route network.”
Zhao Xiaosong, Senior Vice President International Affairs and Alliances of China Southern Airlines, said, “The airline feels proud in expanding its network further into the U.S. with its privileged codeshare partnership with Virgin America. The United States is a significant market for us and we would be able to offer seamless travel experience to all those visiting China and Southeast Asia via Guangzhou.”
