Virgin America to match miles for American elite flyers

Virgin America is trying its best to lure elite-level flyers on American Airlines or United Airlines flyers to its side by offering cheap tickets.

The airline in a statement has indicated that it will be taking on American Airlines and United Airlines by providing the passengers with new miles offer.

The airline launched a status match program allowing passengers to book cheap flights. The airline disclosed that qualifying elite level flyers from American Airlines and United Airlines frequent flyer programs would get opportunity to request matched status until April 30, 2013.

The offer is applicable for passengers holding Virgin America’s Elevate Gold and Elevate Silver Status levels, without surrendering their status (or any points/miles) being held in their current program.

A Virgin America spokesman in a statement said that the applicants would be required to sign up for the Elevate program (if they are not already a member). After signing up, their Elevate status would be updated within 7 to 14 days after the application is finally submitted.
