Virgin Atlantic Airways launches flights between London and Vancouver

Virgin Atlantic Airways recently launched its new London Heathrow-Vancouver route. The airline will operate the four-time weekly service on Airbus A340-300 aircraft throughout the summer season.

The airline in a statement said that Vancouver is effectively the first Canadian destination for Virgin Atlantic Airways. The airline had briefly served Toronto in 2001. The airline will be competing with British Airways and Air Canada on Vancouver-London Heathrow route.

The airline showcased its new Airbus A330 aircraft featuring its redesigned Business Class (Upper Class suite) for the first service. The airline has, however, indicated that it will operate the service on the route utilizing a three-class Airbus A340 aircraft. The airline hopes to see the newly redesigned business class seats on the route towards the end of the summer season.

Sir Richard Branson, owner of Virgin Atlantic Airways, said that the airline has already got slots at London Heathrow for the summer season, and hoped to get slots next year for all year round within the next couple of years.
