Virgin Australia business class flights on Albury-Sydney route dropped

Virgin Australia recently announced it has decided to drop its business class flights between Albury and Sydney. The airline stated that it would replace the two-class Embraer E-190 jets being operated on the route with the all-economy Capital Connect style ATR-72 turboprop aircrafts.

The Embraer E-190 aircrafts are equipped with new business class seats as well as most spacious Economy Class seats in the airline’s fleet.

The airline decided to drop business class flights on Albury-Sydney route because it was finding it rather difficult to get passengers to book business class tickets in adequate numbers.

According to the airline, the Embraer E-190 aircrafts are best suited to fly on “long and thin” routes, and particularly carrying relatively few passengers who are willing to pay for direct flights rather than having to find convenient connections elsewhere. The airline further stated that the ATR-72 is also useful for business traveler route, but usually on shorter flights.
