Virgin Australia upgrades linen service in business class

Passengers booking Virgin Australia’s business class flights can now look forward to an improved linen service and a mattress for their luxurious travel. This facility will be available on flights to Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi.

Virgin Australia in a statement said that all its Boeing 777-300ER fleet has been equipped with a pressure-relieving memory foam mattress. The travelers will also be provided pillows and duvet, which will be 20 percent larger than offered earlier. The memory foam mattress has been specifically designed to mould passengers’ bodies so that they get a better sleep during the night.

The passengers would be required to fasten their seat belt over the duvet instead of resting the duvet on top when catching some nap. This is essential as it allows the airline’s crew to easily spot the seat belt and ensure whether it’s fastened or not without waking up the passengers in the case of turbulence.

The airline said that apart from the big sized duvet, the pillow and high-grade cotton duvet have been styled to complement the cabin’s interior of the aircraft.

Virgin Australia is presently providing flights services to Los Angeles from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane with the help of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The airline is also making use of the aircraft to conduct flights to Abu Dhabi from Sydney, and as well as to Kuala Lumpur from Abu Dhabi on behalf of Etihad Airways.

The move of the airline has come rather late and follows the revamp of its own Boeing 777 fleet in 2012. The offering of improved linen service and mattress to business class passengers is on similar lines of “sleep service” being provided in business class by its rival Qantas Airways since 2012.
