Vueling to attract business class passengers with in-flight Wi-Fi

Spanish budget carrier Vueling is all set to equip its business class flights with in-flight Wi-Fi services effective from December 2013. Vueling, which is a subsidiary of British Airways, said that it will be adding onboard Wi-Fi to its aircrafts as early as December this year in order to attract more business class passengers to fly with it. The airline wants to be ahead of its rivals Ryanair and easyJet and give them tough competition.

Vueling operates out of its main hub at Barcelona. The airline said that it is also studying two or three other features as well that would help it in attracting business travelers even more. The features under consideration by Vueling are currently not offered by other low-cost carriers. While providing the details, Vueling’s Chief Executive Officer Alex Cruz said that the airline will be adding more than 50 routes in 2014.

Cruz said that by making product upgrades Vueling will be able to attract passengers beyond Barcelona from where it currently operates on almost 120 routes. He disclosed that the new destinations where Vueling plans to fly from Barcelona include Krakow, Donetsk, Kharkov, Kaliningrad and Kazan. He also said that airline’s future growth may include Germany and Scandinavia. He however said that southern Europe will continue to remain a focus for Vueling.
