WestJet to Add a New In-Flight Entertainment System

WestJet Airlines, a Canadian carrier known to offer cheap flights across Canada, US, Mexico, Caribbean, Central America and Europe unveils its new in-flight entertainment system.

WestJet will use Panasonic satellite system on its flights to offer WiFi connectivity on electronic devices, live TV and wirelessly stream stored content its passengers. The airline will be removing all seatback television monitors from its aircrafts soon and will be fitting the seats with slimline options along with power outlets and USB ports. Passengers traveling without any electronic gadgets can go ahead and rent tablets at a minimal fee to enjoy the in-flight entertainment options.

WestJet said that nearly 3/4th of its passengers fly with one or the other electronic gadget and have expressed the need of connecting to the world of internet during their flight. And since the airline was not offering any WiFi service, its customer satisfaction had dropped w.r.to in-flight entertainment.

WestJet's spokeswoman said that we have had seatback televisions for a long time now and time has come for us to adapt new technologies and become more proactive and hence, we have decided to adapt this new tablet-based entertainment system.
