WestJet to launch new flights to Winnipeg

WestJet has recently announced to offer seasonal, direct flights between Winnipeg and Fort Lauderdale. The service on this route will commence from November 1, 2014 and run until April 25, 2015.

The flight on Winnipeg-Fort Lauderdale route departs from Winnipeg at 7:30 a.m. and arrives in Fort Lauderdale at 12:40 p.m. The return flight will leave Fort Lauderdale at 1:30 p.m. and arrives in Winnipeg at 5:16 p.m. The weekly flight will operate only on Saturdays.

John Weatherill, director of network and schedule planning WestJet, said that Winnipeg Richardson International Airport has proved to be a strong market for trans-border and domestic operations. And this is what has made the new route between Winnipeg and Fort Lauderdale feasible.

Scott Marohn, director of air service and product development Winnipeg Airport Authority, said that Fort Lauderdale is an important destination for the people of Manitoba in winter. It is suitable for those travelers who visit to southern Florida during winter season. We and the airline both think that this service will help in further connecting various other Floridian vacation destinations.
