With DreamJet, low-cost business airline concept takes wings

A low-cost business airline concept seems to be finally taking wings! This dream is all set to be realized with the launch of DreamJet, a new all-business class airline. Yvelin Frantz, founder of “l'Avion” company, which will operate the new DreamJet, said that the airline is expected to conduct its first flight between New York and Paris in July 2014. Frantz said that his company is still waiting approval for the service from the U.S. Department of Transportation and the DGAC.

The “l'Avion” company was formed in 2007. The company however couldn’t make much headway ever since its founding. Yvelin Frantz has now indicated that he wants to resurrect the company with his ambitious “DreamJet” project. Frantz said that he is determined to realize his dream of operating a 100 percent business airline, whose first flight is expected to be conducted on Paris-New York route in July this year.

Earlier after forming the “l'Avion” in 2007 along with Marc Rochet, attempts were made to resell the brand to British Airways in 2009. However, this never materialized. Now Frantz has decided to operate his business himself by resurrecting the company yet again with the launch of DreamJet. Media reports quoted Frantz as saying that he desperately wants to make the business class fully democratized and would like to make a major dent in the earnings by conventional companies.

DreamJet’s first Boeing 757-200 aircraft to be flown on New York-Paris route has already been delivered and the company is also in the process of acquiring its second aircraft.

Frantz said that the company wants to make airfares as attractive it can. The customers booking business class tickets on DreamJet would be offered low fares attractively priced between 30 percent and 50 percent than what is being currently provided by other airlines.

According to Frantz, DreamJet’s concept will be simple. The airline will try to ensure that customers get maximum luxury that is hitherto not available in economy class, and at the same time they don’t have to spend much on business class airfares which other airlines usually charge. He said that the company’s primary focus will be to attract managers and owners of SMEs in a big way.

Even as DreamJet readies to take its flight of fancy, the DGAC has been approached for the carrier certificate. The U.S. Department of Transportation has also been contacted for the approval, which is still pending.
