World’s tallest 50-story Holiday Inn opens in NYC on Oct 24

The world’s tallest hotel is soon to open its doors for the visitors at the end of this month. The 50-story full-service hotel Holiday Inn, which is currently the tallest in the world, will be inaugurated on October 24, 2014. The 490-room hotel is situated at 99 Washington Street in New York City, only three blocks south of World Trade Center.

The Holiday Inn will cover an area of 176,600-square-foot and will have a low-rise base aptly complementing the surrounding streetscape. A dramatic tower comprising many rooms will be offering scenic views of the city, the Hudson River and the harbor. The hotel has been exquisitely designed. Its jewel-like multifaceted façade is striking. It presents a resplendent look with its silver cladding reflecting the captured light. It not only creates a dazzling image but also brightens the street-level pedestrian landscape.

The hotel will be offering various facilities to the customers. These include free in-room internet access, meeting options, a fitness center, a restaurant and bar, and a guest lodge.

According to the architects of the hotel, the monumental Holiday Inn is expected to play a crucial role in completely transforming the Lower Manhattan to a 24/7 destination for both the locals and other travelers from the existing daytime-only business area.

Apart from Holiday Inn, the area will also be seeing more hotels opening in few years. Three more hotels are also being constructed and some of them are nearing completion. The opening of more hotels will be adding nearly 700 more rooms. Media reports said that a 28-story hotel comprising of a total of 300 rooms is coming up at 133 Greenwich Street and would be inaugurated in 2015.
