Swiss low-cost carrier Wow Air has announced it will be expanding its network to the United States, in addition to launching new route from London Stansted next year. Media reports said that Wow Air will begin daily flights from London Stansted to Reykjavik starting April 25, 2018. The flights will depart from London Stansted at 17:20 hours and arrive in Reykjavik at 19:30 hours. The return flight will make its departure from Reykjavik at 12:05 hours and arrive in London Stansted at 16:15 hours.
Wow Air will also launch flights to four new cities in the United States. These include Detroit, Cleveland, St. Louis and Cincinnati. The flights to these destinations will start from spring 2018. The airline will start operating flights to Detroit from Reykjavik effective from April 25. However, after one month three new U.S. routes will also become operational. Flights to Cleveland, Cincinnati and St. Louis will be launched from May 3, May 9 and May 17 respectively. The four new U.S. destinations will be served from Reykjavik.
Earlier, Wow Air launched new flights to Chicago from Reykjavik effective from July 13, 2017. The airline is operating direct flights between Chicago and Reykjavik four times per week with connections available from Bristol, Edinburgh and London Gatwick via Reykjavik. The flight departs from Reykjavik at 15:00 hours and arrives in Chicago at 16:40 hours local time. The return flight takes off from Chicago at 17:40 hours and arrives in Reykjavik at 05:00 hours local time. The flights between the two destinations are operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
With the launch of flights to Chicago, Wow Air is now operating its 10th transatlantic route. Apart from Chicago, other destinations being served in North America include Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Washington D.C., New York and Pittsburgh. Wow Air is now serving a total of 32 destinations.
