WOW Air recently announced it will be launching flights between Dublin and Chicago via Cork during the summer season. The leading
Icelandic low-cost carrier will begin thrice weekly flights from Cork to Chicago effective May 19, 2017. The airline is currently operating five-times per week flights between Dublin and Reykjavik.
Media reports said that the new routes being launched by WOW Air with a short stopover in Reykjavik will become operational from July 13 this year. The tickets are already on sale for travel in September and October. The duration of flight to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport will be nearly 11 hours. The destinations being currently served by the airline in North America include Pittsburgh, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, New York and Toronto.
Meanwhile, WOW Air has said it will be introducing a new ‘business class’ among one of the three-tier seating option. This new premium seating category will be rolled out starting from June 1, 2017, when the airline starts offering flights from Dublin to Chicago via Cork.
A spokesperson of WOW Air said that the customers booking “WOW Biz” fares would be offered larger or bigger seats. Among various facilities to be offered to the airline’s business class customers include priority boarding, 12 kg carry-on bag, carry a personal item, complimentary in-flight meal and cancellation protection.
It may be noted that WOW Air’s business class product is similar to that of Ryanair’s ‘Business Plus’ fares, which is designed to offer amenities such as additional bags, reserved seats, fast track security passes and priority boarding. However, seat types or separate cabins are not offered on the aircrafts.
WOW Air on the other hand will be offering “Big Seats” in the newly introduced business class cabin on its Airbus A330 aircrafts fleet to be operated on both selected short-haul and long-haul routes. The new cabin also offers 37 inches of legroom as well as a footrest. The business class-style seats to be offered on WOW Air’s Airbus A320 and Airbus A321 aircrafts will be of two types – XXL (35-37 inches) and XL (32-34 inches).
