Wow Air will now fly from LGW to Boston and Washington

Wow Air is following in the footsteps of Icelandair by offering transatlantic routes from London Gatwick to the main Washington Dulles airport and Boston. The flights for Boston will commence on March 27, 2015 and Baltimore/Washington flights from on June 4, 2015. The Boston route will have daily flights except Wednesday whereas Baltimore/Washington flights will operate alternative days in a week, starting from Monday.

The passengers can take benefit from the ultra-low one-way introductory fares, offered to celebrate this new service. However, they might have to pay more for the luggage as the ticket price only allows hand luggage up to 5 kg. If you want to upgrade legroom from 30 to 35 inches, you need to pay £14 and if you would want to carry extra luggage, it will cost £39.

All the flights will stopover at Reykjavik, Icelandic Capital with flights bound for Boston departing at 12.20 from Gatwick and arriving in the U.S. at 17.30. This will make the trip three hours longer than a direct flight. The return flight has a connecting time of 2 hours 40 minutes and leaves from Boston at 18.55 and arrives in Gatwick at 10.50. Baltimore/Washington flights depart from Gatwick at 12.20 and arrive at 17.55 taking two hours longer. The return leg leaves at 19.25 and arrives at 10.50 in London Gatwick with a 90-minute connection in Reykjavik, making the return journey four hours longer than a direct flight.
 
The Gatwick to Iceland flights will use A320 fleet while Iceland to US flights will use an Extended Range Airbus A321.
 
Skúli Mogensen, Wow Air’s CEO expressed delight that these transatlantic flights will attract numerous passengers who could not afford flying across the Atlantic earlier. He also mentioned that the response is great as the company is offering introductory fares at a price less than a train ticket from London to Edinburgh.
