Virgin Australia to attract business class travelers with tablets

Virgin Australia will be taking the delivery of two new Airbus A330-200s this May and has indicated that it will introduce flights on international routes soon.

Virgin Australia flights on the wide-bodied A330-200 aircraft will be primarily operated from Sydney and Melbourne to Perth. The aircraft will feature a new business class. The airline wants to cash on by introducing flights from these two cities as the mining boom has fueled demand for workers heading to the West Australian capital.

The airline in a statement said that it has recently launched the trial of Samsung Galaxy tablet computers aimed at providing entertainment to business class travelers.

John Borghetti, Chief Executive of Virgin Australia, said that the two Airbus A330-200 aircrafts are scheduled to enter service from May 15, 2012, and have been primarily earmarked for the Australian domestic market. He also said that the aircrafts have been designed with an on-board product good enough to fly internationally. He said that the range of the aircrafts was capable of reaching cities such as Tokyo, Mumbai, Beijing and Honolulu from Australia, and therefore “ideally suited” for international flights.
