Virgin Australia to launch flights to Asia within next year

Virgin Australia recently announced it is planning to launch flights to Asian destinations within the next year. The airline is considering this move following an improvement in its fledgling long-haul operations.

John Borghetti, Chief Executive of Virgin Australia, said that the airline is keen to expand Virgin Australia flights to international destinations.
He said that the airline has stopped operating flights on several loss-making routes and has formed alliances with leading carriers, such as Singapore Airlines and Etihad Airways.

Borghetti has so far declined to reveal the routes to be targeted by the airline, but starting Virgin Australia flights to Asian destinations is highly likely.

He said that it is difficult to believe the theory that making money internationally is entirely difficult. The obvious trick is after all having the right strategy.

He further said that Virgin Australia is committed and would be “staying on strategy” despite a looming price war with Qantas Airways for attracting lucrative business travelers.

Currently, Virgin Australia is deploying new A330 wide-body aircraft on key business routes, renovating airport lounges in Sydney and Melbourne, and boosting its loyalty travel scheme.
