Virgin Atlantic Airways moving operations from Tokyo’s Narita Airport to Haneda Airport

Virgin Atlantic Airways flights operations are all set to be moved from Tokyo’s Narita Airport to Haneda Airport.

The airline recently announced it will be moving its flight operations out of Tokyo’s Narita Airport to Haneda Airport. The airline said that Haneda Airport is closer to the city.

Virgin Atlantic Airways also disclosed that it is planning to launch a Boeing 787 Dreamliner service on the Tokyo Haneda-London route.

The airline in a statement said that it had to take a decision to move its operations out of Tokyo’s Narita Airport after a commitment by Haneda Airport officials to offer daylight slots from spring 2014 to long-haul carriers.

The move of Virgin Atlantic Airways to shift its operations from Narita Airport to Haneda Airport is aimed at benefiting both British and Japanese customers greatly. This would also help in boosting the air connectivity on domestic routes in Japan.

Virgin Atlantic Airways’ move to shift its operations will also bring it at par with British Airways. Currently, British Airways is operating five flights every week from London Heathrow to Haneda Airport in a codeshare agreement with Japan Airlines.
