Virgin Atlantic to target Scotland after Heathrow slots win

Virgin Atlantic Airways recently announced that it has finally succeeded in acquiring all of the take-off and landing slots at London’s Heathrow Airport from British Airways. The airline in a statement said that it was able to win all the slots after British Airways was forced to abandon these following the acquisition of BMI.

The airline stated that the acquisition of take-off and landing slots will enable Virgin Atlantic Airways flights to aggressively compete with the rival carriers on routes to Scotland.

The airline further disclosed that the customers booking Virgin Atlantic Airways flights tickets will now get more travel options to Scotland as the carrier is planning to use the slots to operate multiple daily flights to London Heathrow from Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
 
A Virgin Atlantic Airways spokesperson said that the airline has since long wanted to compete head-to-head with British Airways on short-haul domestic routes.
