China Airlines (CAL) launched new daily services linking Taipei and Kaohsiung to Tokyo on October 31. This would make travel between Taiwan and Japan easier and convenient. The new services include two daily flights (Cl-220/Cl-221 and Cl-222 /Cl-223) between Taipei-Songshan and Tokyo-Haneda airports. Besides, there will be two additional TSA-HND flights code-shared with Japan Airlines (Cl-9220/Cl-9223 and Cl-9222/Cl-9221).

The airline also launched three new round-trip services between Kaohsiung and Tokyo’s Narita International Airport on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays (Cl-102/Cl-103), which will make travel between Japan and southern Taiwan quicker.

 

The Songshan-Haneda flights will save passengers 4-6 hours of round-trip travel time as compared to Taoyuan-Narita services, thus greatly reducing the geographic distance between Taipei and Tokyo.

China Airlines said that it will pass on substantial benefits to passengers in Taiwan to celebrate the new services. According to the airline, all Economy Class passengers will enjoy the same economical ticket fare between Songshan, Taoyuan and Kaohsiung and Tokyo’s Narita or Haneda (not available on code-share flights). Business Class passengers departing from both Songshan and Taoyuan to Haneda and Narita will also enjoy the same air fares. Kaohsiung-Narita Business Class passengers will receive one free bus transportation to Tokyo.

Currently, the airline operates 36 weekly flights between points in Taiwan and Tokyo, as well as a total of 85 weekly flights to nine popular Japanese destinations including Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Okinawa, Miyazaki, Tokyo-Haneda and Tokyo-Narita.
