Air China, one of the world’s leading airlines by market value, is aiming to double its fleet and will have more than 700 planes by 2015.
The Chinese carriers that include the China Eastern and China Western have joined hands and placed a multi-billion dollar aircraft order to cope up with the rapid increase in the air travel demand in recent years.
According to the company’s data, Air China had 381 aircrafts till the end of June 2010. By 2015 the combined feet size of the airlines is expected to cross the figure of 5000 planes. This will be a remarkable increase from the figure of 2600 plane of 2010.
The Chinese government is planning to build a high speed rail link network that will serve more than 90 percent of the population. The USD 304.4 billion projects will also include the 16,000 km of the fastest newly built lines.
The airline industry is hoping to benefit a lot from the upcoming projects.
