Leading Spanish carrier Iberia has been designated as the official and preferred airline for the Spanish Football Federation until the end of 2014.

The move follows the recent trade agreement between Iberia and the Real Federation Española de Fútbol (Royal Spanish Football Federation). The agreement also underlines the importance of air transport to sports activities.

According to the agreement, Iberia will be carrying Federation personnel and arrange its special flights for next year’s European Cup and the Confederation Cup events in 2013.

Earlier, Iberia flew the Spanish national side to and from the World Cup tourney in South Africa, which was won by the Spanish players.
