The capital of the UAE may not be big on the tourist circuit, but the grand city has its own share of events that can thrill tourists and locals alike. From May 30th till June 8th, experience fabulous shopping in the air-conditioned comforts of Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center at the Shams Festival, 2013. Art lovers will love the Looking East from West: Orientalist Art and Photography display on 29th May as well as the Art Scape on 4th June at Manarat Al Sadiyat; the Birth of a Museum Exhibition from 22nd April till 20th July offers an insight into what to expect from the much anticipated Louvre Abu Dhabi which is set to open in 2015.

July is also the time when the famous Liwa Date Festival takes place; this week-long festival celebrates the date palm, one of the lifelines of the Emirates. This is one of the best months to experience Emirati culture up close.
