Sri Lanka’s national flag carrier SriLankan Airlines recently announced online auction for Economy Class passengers planning to book business class flights.

SriLankan Airlines has unveiled its new “Upgra‘d e-auction”, a payment-based online auction system for Business Class upgrades from Economy Class.

The airline in a statement said that Upgra‘d e-auction system is an extremely user-friendly online process which will enable a passenger holding Economy Class ticket on a SriLankan Airlines flight for journey to any online destination in the airline’s network to place a bid for an upgrade by filling in and submitting an e-form available in the airline’s official website.

The passenger making use of Upgra‘d e-auction system and fulfilling the auction process and making a payment through credit card would be informed via email between 72 and 48hrs prior to departure upon approval of the bid.

However, if an upgrade is not at all possible then the previous booking would remain valid and the ticket holder would not be charged any fee, if his/her bid fails when applied through Upgra‘d e-auction system.
